Pizza containing plastic recalled in California and nationwide

Pizza recall - Heiting & Irwin Attorneys at LawIf you’re thinking about reaching for a frozen pizza for a quick and easy meal tonight, make sure you are aware of the recent pizza recall.

Nestle USA (a unit of Nestle SA) has voluntarily recalled several different California Pizza Kitchen and DiGiorno Pizza products. This recall is in response to consumers reporting that they discovered small pieces of plastic in the California Pizza Kitchen Crispy Thin Crust white pizza. All of these recalled products were distributed across the United States, so consumers in California and throughout the U.S. need to be on the lookout.

The company, Nestle USA, said, “Our investigation indicates that this is directly related to a particular lot of spinach we received from one of our suppliers. Although no complaints have been received to date on the other three varieties that used this spinach, we are recalling these additional varieties in an abundance of caution.”

Here is a list of the products being recalled so that you can check your freezer:

  • 3062525951

Please note that all of the pizzas being recalled were produced during February or March of 2013. Pizzas from other dates are safe for consumption.

If you find one of the recalled pizzas in your freezer, contact Nestle USA’s consumer services via email (nestlepizza@casupport.com) or phone (1-800-456-4394). The company will provide a replacement coupon for each reported pizza. If you or somebody you know has been injured by one of these recalled products, call us or contact us, Heiting & Irwin, immediately. Nestle USA also said “Because Nestle USA delivers pizzas in the U.S. directly to retailer freezer cases, we have already instructed our direct store delivery team to begin removing pizzas affected by this recall at retail locations nationwide. We are also working together with our retail partners to ensure these varieties are removed from freezer shelves nationwide.”
